Blur is an action, racing game by Bizarre Creations. It is a very fun game that can be simply picked up and played by anyone with a little hand-eye coordination. It is definitely not a simulation race, but it can't simply be considered an arcade game either. The game has both a single player campaign and a few multiplayer modes, including split-screen.
The single player experience is very interesting. The first few moments of the campaign teach you the basics of playing Blur. After a few minutes, you will have the basics down and will be able to control your car. Just like most games, you win races and complete challenges to unlock new cars.
Driving is very enjoyable and intuitive. The game makes use of certain bonuses that you can get during your races, a la Mario Kart. These bonuses allow you to repair your car or attack others, and also to defend against other attacks. All the bonuses are well-balanced, so the race will not depend on using them, but they will certainly prove helpful.
The graphics are very realistic and both the cars and scenery are rendered in good detail. The game makes use of blur to give you a sense of speed and collisions and explosions are not unusual.
All in all, Blur is a great game that anyone can pick up. Playing with friends is super fun and the learning curve is not steep at all.
